Gloucester Medal Haul
A full collection of medals was claimed by UWPC players Brandon Adams and Chad Warren in Gloucester. Firstly Brandon won through the U15 Gold final where he lost out in a tough match to a Sweden international. Meanwhile in the corresponding Bronze competition held at the same venue Chad played alongside Aimee Whiteman from Abergavenney in the XD as they got pipped 21-23 in the semi final. Later the Herefordshire pair converted their disappointments into determination as they won all five matches to emerge winners in the U15 Level Doubles.

Great Start to Brandon's Season
The season has started extremely well for Brandon Adams. He hit the ground running with a place in the Milton Keynes Summer U15 Bronze final, losing a very close game 25-23 to come away with Silver in the singles, and a semi final place resulting in a bronze in the mixed doubles. His success continued when he fought his way through to the Semi finals in the Nottingham u15 Gold tournament, where he lost to the eventual winner coming away with a bronze. The next tournament was the Cheltenham u15 Gold where he battled through the rounds to reach the final where he came up against a sweedish international player who proved a very tough opponent. Brandon couldn’t seal the deal and came away with the silver but, on the same day in the u15 Bronze tournament, he and his doubles partner Chad Warren got to the final, beating a welsh international duo comfortably. Brandon is very happy with his performance so far this season and continues to train up to five times a week. He hopes that his success will continue through the rest of the season.

U13 Cheltenham Gold Tournament
Chad Warren competed in the U13 Gold tournament over the weekend of 3rd- 4th October. His grading and ranking qualified him for the Gold Star competition in Singles to compete against the top players from over all the country. He was also entered to play in the Mixed Doubles and Level Doubles which combines the Gold and Gold Star entrants.
Initially illness in the week leading up to the tournament looked to have taken its toll as Chad looked devoid of energy, losing his opening two Singles matches. However, medicine and grit saw him come from a set and 8-14 down in both the second and third sets to win against his opponent – an England international and group winner.
In the XD Chad was partnered by Aimee Whiteman of Abergavenny.Playing their first Gold together they overcame a pair containing an England boy in their first round match; beat the No.3 seeds in the second round, then an England pair in the quarters. Returning to play the semi -final on the Sunday, Chad and Aimee then beat another England partnership and no. 2 seeds to reach the final without dropping a single set. There they gave a great account of themselves in a competitive final before going down 17 and 15 to an experienced England pair.
Meanwhile in the Level Doubles Chad and his partner Ethan Rose got through to the semi-finals beating reigning national U11 champions on the way before just falling short to the no.1 seeds and eventual competition winners.
